As part of studying the Unreal Engine, an atmospheric scene was created in my favorite genre – post apocalypse. The project is inspired by memories of my hometown in central Kazakhstan and conveys the vast steppe landscape and a melancholic sense of returning home.
The central element of the composition is an old Kazakh railway wagon, modelled in Blender and textured in Substance Painter.Secondary details such as the silhouette of industrial chimneys pointing toward home, a bilingual „Стоп / Тоқта“ (Stop) sign, and the word „Юность“ (Youth) painted on a lonely concrete wall reinforce the feeling of memory and traces of the past.
The process included landscape creation in Unreal Engine, adding foliage and assets, working with lighting and camera, and the final render of the scene.
