The collection merges two distinct subjects – heroin chic fashion photography and the story of We Children from Bahnhof Zoo. It draws parallels between Kate Moss, the 1990s icon and embodiment of the heroin chic trend, and Christiane F., a teenage heroin addict from 1970s West Berlin. The project also explores themes of body image and harmful beauty standards.
The collection follows Christiane’s descent into addiction, from a naive girl trying to fit in, to a person trapped in a hopeless situation with death appearing as the only escape. It blends visual elements from the 1981 film adaptation of Christiane’s story with the aesthetics of 1990s grunge and minimalism.
