Re-zip

This project focuses on the transformation of an object through a change of function, meaning, and physical structure. The starting point is high footwear, which is gradually transformed into a wearable bag. The main inspiration comes from the natural process of a snake shedding its skin, where an old layer is removed and replaced by a new functional form.

The zipper plays a key structural and symbolic role. It enables separation, opening, and reconnection of the material, becoming a boundary between the original and the new identity of the object. The act of unzipping and zipping represents the moment of transformation – the transition between footwear and a carrying object.

The project reflects the relationship between the body, movement, and design. Footwear, originally made for walking, becomes an object that is carried. Its role and use change, while the material still retains traces of its original purpose. The result is a hybrid object connecting function, aesthetics, and the concept of metamorphosis.
