The assignment for our semester projects was to take inspiration from a global footwear brand and create a small handbag and sandals. I chose Miista, a London-based footwear and fashion brand that primarily produces women’s products. During the design process, I selected individual pairs of shoes and analyzed them both visually and technologically. In the end, I decided to use interweaving leather strips, which I then applied to the instep of the sandals and at the side of the handbag. I wanted the designs to appear simple and minimalist, so I chose black as the main color. For the materials, I selected two types of black leather that are different in shade and texture, allowing the interwoven pattern to stand out. I used black cowhide leather and split leather.
