The Sweet Taste of Being

The semester project The Sweetness of Being reflects the phenomenon of fleeting desire and short-lived euphoria, often associated with impulsive shopping and instant gratification. The design of women’s pumps works with the ambivalent meaning of sweetness—as a pleasant reward that brings a sense of relief and joy after a demanding day, while simultaneously carrying an element of deception and the risk of excessive consumption. The material composition combines mesh, leather, and feathers, whose contrasting qualities support both the visual and conceptual layers of the design. The lightness and softness of the feathers evoke euphoria and the airy sensation of sweet indulgence, while the structure of leather and mesh refers to reality and the transience of this feeling. The resulting footwear functions as a metaphor for the deceptive sweetness of being—a moment in which a small reward provides relief, yet its effect is temporary and generates the desire for repetition.
