The project was developed within the theme of optical illusion, with its starting point being a fascination with how stripes in clothing can visually deform the shape of the body: emphasizing, suppressing, or making it appear flattering or unflattering. I translated this principle into footwear through working with pleated leather, which I produce and shape myself.
During experiments with the material, a form gradually emerged that resembled a fan, which became the bearer of another illusion, the idea of concealing and revealing, of what remains hidden behind the form. The shoes thus work not only with the visual illusion of movement and volume, but also with the illusion of intimacy and protection.
The resulting objects, shoes and handbag, are play with the deformation of shapes, enhanced by the rhythm of stripes and the folding of the material, while maintaining a sense of femininity and a delicate tension between the visible and the hidden.
