Walnut

This semestral work was created for an exhibition in the Moravian Museum in Brno. The students of Footwear Design Atelier were given a choice of many pieces of footwear from the museum’s archive and each student created footwear inspired by their selection.

The “Walnut” is inspired by children’s shoes with wooden split outsoles from the Žďár region from the 1930s. However, it would not be my product if some 3D modeling was not used in the process… in this form, however, for the first time with the use of CNC machine used on beautiful walnut wood.

3D modeling and wood have had a place in my life and work for a long time. At the beginning of the process of creating this piece, I thought about how to enhance the inspiration from the Moravian Museum onto a new level closer to luxury. One of the main ideas, which was later also applied, was to achieve such a feeling thanks to wood, which on the shoes has a visual appearance almost like jewelry.
