The Westwood in Highlands collection is inspired by the work of designer Vivienne Westwood, who frequently drew inspiration from historical clothing and footwear. I decided to take this aspect of her work one step further by drawing inspiration from traditional Scottish historical footwear.
The design of the sandals is therefore based on Ghillie brogues, traditional Scottish low shoes without a tongue. This cut is combined with signature Vivienne Westwood elements such as high platforms, tartan, black leather, and silver hardware.
The handbag is inspired by the early stages of Vivienne Westwood’s work. It is sharp and austere in form, yet enhanced by hand stitching and a tartan strap.
