LD Seating- composition of chairs KOMA module

The company LD Seating approached us, first-year students, with a proposal for a composition for their new Lotus chair, which the company wanted to launch on the market during the Zlín Design Week. The composition was to be located in the KOMA module under the Department Store on Náměstí práce.

Together with Veronika Skřivánková, we had the opportunity to implement, thanks to the selection of our designs. The combination of designs was created based on the company’s preference – a primary design by Veronika with design elements from me.

In the composition, we tried to show the strengths of the chair. ELEGANCE AND PRACTICALITY

The center of the action is a dynamic chair so that the viewer can see it properly from all angles. At first “sitting”, I was surprised that such a comfortable chair is also stackable. The composition deals with the topic of stackability in the left part of the module. The chair on the far right shows us its elegant lines in profile.

Thank you to everyone who contributed! I also thank you for this opportunity, thanks to which we both learned to work better as a team and gained new experiences. I appreciate that.

“The design of the chair impresses with a kind of open window between the seat and the backrest. This makes the chair light and easy to handle. As the backrest is slightly wider than the designed seat base of the shell, the design and curves of the chair evoke the shape of a flower. This gave rise to the idea of naming this chair LOTUS after its resemblance to a lotus flower. In my opinion, this name also symbolizes a certain state of mind,”
