For my bachelor’s project, I chose the TGM Elementary School in Otrokovice, where we were approached by the headmistress with a request to create a new design, or modernize the common areas, which are located on the second floor.
The assignment is therefore to design a functional and aesthetic redesign of the corridors that respects ecological principles, promotes inclusivity and creates an environment that supports education and community interaction. My other topics related to the assignment are sustainable materials, educational elements and elements for orientation in space that will help blind children.
I also want to use color theory using simple shapes that will also help in orientation and create a unified scheme that can be applied to other parts of the school. I draw on my personal experience with children and I want to create a “safe place” for them, where children will feel comfortable and the spaces will meet their requirements.
