A mental breakdown – it’s like building a tower out of blocks. You keep adding more and more, until the structure can’t hold it anymore and collapses.
Each block represents something you carry: stress, pressure from others, self-criticism, fear…
But what if you gave them some support? Something to hold them up and keep them from falling?
Support in the form of friends, family, a safe space, or acceptance.
In my work, I try to visually capture the very moment before the collapse.
At the base of the object lies a flat piece of glass – a symbol of stability and a foundation to build upon.
On top of it, deformed glass rings are stacked, intertwined with a painted strip of fabric that represents that support.
It holds everything together – and prevents the glass from falling.
