Communication Campaign to Support Mental Health Prevention

This thesis focuses on the issue of mental health among young people. The aim is to design an effective social media campaign to destigmatize mental disorders in this target group. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with theoretical knowledge in the field of mental health and available strategies for coping with mental difficulties. Furthermore, it focuses on design principles for creating materials focused on mental health and analyses existing campaigns and organizations actively involved in destigmatization issues. The practical part of the thesis presents a proposal for a social media campaign. The campaign is based on the findings of the theoretical part of the theses and utilizes modern trends and communication tools. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of mental health issues among young people and to facilitate access to relevant information and support resources.

I adapted the campaign visuals to the target audience with a modern and fresh solution. During the process, I named the project Young Adult Mental Health Guide, which captures the essence of my campaign.

The active element is an AI-powered chatbot. Its primary feature is that users can write about how they feel or what is troubling them, and the AI will assess the severity of their condition. If the AI determines that the issue is minor, the user will receive a list of relevant articles available on the website. In the second case, if the AI determines that the condition is severe, it will suggest professional help over the phone or provide a link to websites that offer the necessary assistance.

A calendar with illustrations and a back side that includes first aid for anxiety attacks.
