The visual identity of the TBU diploma exhibition is based on the principle of blockiness and modularity. The chosen visual language symbolizes bricks as basic building units – elements that make up the whole. Just as the architecture of Zlín is formed by a modular system, the exhibition of diploma theses is composed of individual authorial approaches that together create a single whole.
The design is constructed using a fixed grid that determines the structure, rhythm, and order. However, this order is disrupted by controlled randomness – individual geometric blocks are generated randomly using a tool that creates rectangular shapes within a given system. This creates tension between control and chance, between system and individuality, which directly reflects the essence of the diploma theses: each is created within an academic framework, but brings a unique authorial expression.
The modularity of the visual allows for endless variations – the identity is not a single static poster, but a living system that can adapt to different formats, media, and situations. Like the diploma theses themselves, the visual identity is constantly being rearranged, rebuilt, and recomposed.
