I really believe that design is created by love. As I sit and write these lines, tears come to my eyes. I have had one thought since childhood. The idea of how to measure my feelings, problems and desires. When I have a problem, I ask myself, is it worth all the irises on earth? All the irises on Earth are the largest physical unit for me. That’s how amazing they are to me. I don’t know why, but I feel love for this particular flower. And one day, when I looked at the irises, something occurred to me. If I love them so much, why not try to capture them in some way? Why not do it with glass, which I also love? Why not fix them indoors where they will be safe all year round? It was at that moment that I realized that the iris motif would be the basis for my bachelor thesis, which is dedicated to the design of a glass utilitarian ensemble.
I traced different parts of the iris petals until I arrived at shapes I was happy with. I designed the silhouettes of the frames, vases and bowls in this way.
The set consists of mirrors in glass frames, vases and bowls designed with functionality as well as aesthetics in mind. It is also the design of a fused sculpture placed on the wall.
The glass placed in one interior, created with two different techniques, leaves the viewer thinking about its multiple possibilities in an artistic context. Also, the selection of these items is based on their placement in one space to complement each other.
