Left ashore

Corals are made for life in the sea. To survive, they need water and the calm of the ocean floor. When taken out onto land, they slowly begin to die, because they have lost their natural environment.

The same goes for humans. When someone is suddenly torn from their comfort zone, from a place where they understand themselves and their surroundings, something within them begins to die as well. They lose solid ground beneath their feet and start to fall apart—just like the coral out of the water.

Glass forms shaped like coral, combined with cracked ceramic clay, symbolize this very dislocation from a natural environment.
