Stabea.

A design-driven product family that restores independence and dignity to the dining table. Stabea is a comprehensive system of stabilizing dining utensils designed for individuals battling motor tremors, blurring the line between a medical aid and a premium everyday product.

Uncontrolled muscle restlessness, Parkinson’s disease, or essential tremor. For millions of people worldwide, these diagnoses mean a daily loss of autonomy during a basic human activity – eating. Current market solutions offer either unattractive plastic tools with a clinical aesthetic that unnecessarily draw attention to the disability, or financially inaccessible devices.

The Stabea. project introduces a radical visual and functional destigmatization. The core idea was to create an inclusive design with a clean formal DNA that resembles contemporary consumer electronics or premium tableware rather than a medical instrument. The handle geometry is strictly symmetrical (suitable for both right and left-handed users) and optimized for a relaxed power grip, which naturally delays muscle fatigue.

The entire ecosystem is divided into specific categories responding to disease progression and environmental context:

  • Institutional Variant: A seamless, 100% hygienic monolith with a fixed weight, designed for the demanding environments of hospitals and nursing homes.
  • Public (Passive) Variant: A modular set for personal care, allowing users to individually adjust the weight and center of gravity of the handle using a removable cassette and a magnetic lock. A single handle serves as a shared base for both the spoon and fork.
  • Active (Electronic) Variant: A high-end mechatronic solution utilizing gyroscopic sensors and micro-propulsion to counteract hand tremors in real time. It includes a smart transport case with a power bank function for a barrier-free social life.
  • Children’s Variant: A proportionally scaled-down version tailored to children’s anatomy. Thanks to playful colored surfaces, it eliminates anxiety and social pressure in school environments.

Stabea. proves that medical design does not have to compromise between functionality and aesthetics. It brings certainty back to the hands and peace to the dining experience.
