The ritual death mask titled VESSEL symbolizes the return of the human body to nature. After death, nature takes back everything that humans have taken from it. The pale face with half-closed eyelids symbolises the corpse’s final rest. The plant-covered crown represents nature’s gradual reclaiming of the body.
It allows its wearers to establish a spiritual connection with the realm of the dead. At the same time, it protects both them and the soul of the deceased from unwelcome entities that could interfere with the contact. The soul of the deceased remains within the mask, finding its final vessel.
Like the human body, the mask gradually decays, falls apart, and loses its original form. Eventually, it returns completely to nature and becomes the foundation for new life.
