Composition “Wasteland”

The work on the theme of passages deals with the loss of close people in our surroundings. Door frames symbolize paths leading to people with whom we have any kind of relationship, they represent imaginary passages through which we can draw closer to them, communicate, and share our world. In contrast, a hole in the ground with closed doors functions as a metaphor for a grave, place that marks the end of a story and the end of a journey, at the moment when any further passage to that person is closed.

The installation was placed outdoors on an empty site. This environment refers to the idea of a world that is destroyed and empty (wasteland), similar to the world left behind after the departure of a person who once gave it meaning. The empty space thus intensifies the feeling of absence and loss and becomes an important part of the work itself.

The meaning of the project is to draw attention to the fragility of human relationships and to the moment when open passages turn into definitively closed boundaries.
