What? What’s that hanging at U16?
Composition – Assigned concept „Spatial Permeation“
The work is based on a principle that explores the relationship between „pictures“ and their „frames“ which can be found in our everyday life. Whether it is a simple view through a window, where the „frame“ defines a rectangular boundary of the „picture“ (the view itself) – or a tree that interweaves with its trunk, where organic shapes are formed and define the borders of the sky – or more complicated relationships between multiple objects, for example in a city.

I used this principle as a metaphor for the reflection of surroundings, because the surrounding is the main factor that sets the role and the subject’s overall character. In this case, it’s Zlín.
By placing the objects in the middle of a staircase at U16, I created a set of ambient elements, whose goal is not to be the main focal point, but to be something that a person notices unforcefully or later in their peripheral vision.
Only then can the initially unfamiliar, abstract forms evoke the feeling of remembering in a person – and sometimes, even after the person visits the depicted place itself – due to the reflection of its surroundings.
