This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the redesign of the corridors at Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk Elementary School in Otrokovice. The aim of this work is to create a space that provides a pleasant environment for students, where they feel safe. With this project, I want to prove that children also experience mental health challenges and that these should be addressed. Through my design and interactive elements, I aim to encourage children to talk more about their feelings and show others that they are not alone. Furthermore, the thesis emphasizes the importance of making the space both aesthetically pleasing and practical. The design incorporates elements that are engaging, educational, and motivating. Creating an environment that not only fosters communication among children but also enhances their overall well-being can significantly improve the atmosphere of the entire school.

For some, 45 minutes can feel like a long time. Come have some fun during the break — play ping pong or table football. Are you a Spider-Man fan? Try climbing the walls or hanging from a rope. Do you have more of a creative spirit? Doodle on the interactive board as much as you like.

Lounge
A place where not much usually happens and it’s quiet. A student can sit here, read a book in peace, or prepare for the next lesson. Since the room is next to the school psychologist’s office, students can leave a message on the ‘tree of wishes’ to brighten someone else’s day, or read what others are going through and realize they’re not alone. There’s also space for awards and student artwork. When parents arrive, they can see how talented their children are.

Don’t like chaos or tired of sitting at a desk all the time? Come sit in the pods around the trees, take a break, have a snack, or chat in peace. Spent the whole day in slippers? Kick them off and stretch out on the carpet. Or do you feel like playing something? How about tic-tac-toe or Twister? Relax and let all the negative emotions float away. Is something bothering you, or do you just enjoy drawing on things? Go for it — that’s exactly what the board is there for.
