REVITALIZATION OF COMMON SPACES AT THE PRIMARY SCHOOL IN OTROKOVICE

*This bachelor’s thesis deals with the modernization of common areas of an elementary school. The goal is to create a functional and aesthetic redesign of the hallways that will respect ecological principles, promote inclusion and create an environment that will support education and community interaction. The assignment involves the use of sustainable materials, the use of color and shape theories, and the use of educational elements at a design level.

*The result of the bachelor’s thesis is an architectural study of the TGM Primary School in Otrokovice. The study includes all the requirements set by the client regarding the reconstruction of common areas, and additional elements related to the main themes have been added. All addressed rooms still fulfill their purpose, which has been complemented by furniture to confirm this fact. The spaces of the first stage have a character of play and various activities, the common room has transformed into a multifunctional and mobile space where various school events, exhibitions, and community events can take place. The last space of the second stage maintains the purpose of storage space, which users are accustomed to, and more relaxation elements have been added for their comfort and inner peace. Thanks to the new study with added value, all activities can be transferred from student classrooms to common areas. Educational institutions can perceive this fact as a tool to create inclusion and support relationships not only among students but also among staff through various activities that take place in the hallways, allowing student classrooms to remain calm and be viewed as study spaces, where there is room for focus compared to the hallways. Regarding the development of the environment around the elementary school, there is the possibility of revitalizing the school garden, which creates a relationship with the newly designed interior.
