Audience-Driven Programming: Using AI for Data Analysis and Cultural Preference Prediction in a Regional Cultural Centre

This thesis examines the use of artificial intelligence in film programming at a regional cinema. The empirical core consists of a case study of Kino Květen Nový Jičín, comprising an exploratory analysis of 611 screening records from 2025 and a pilot predictive experiment using the random forest algorithm during the period of 9–22 March 2026.

The confrontation with actual outcomes revealed the structural failure of a purely data-driven approach: only 36 % of actual attendance came from titles suggested by the model. Based on this finding, the thesis proposes a hybrid model integrating data scoring, a rule layer and curatorial review, complemented by an implementation roadmap for the Municipal Cultural Centre in Nový Jičín, of which the cinema is part.
