Authorial Design as a Catalyst for the Creation of Communities

The master’s thesis is mainly focused on authorial design as a catalyst for the creation of communities in the Czech environment. It explores the maintenance and strengthening of communities around people who share the same characteristics. Such as aesthetic preference, ability to appreciate uniqueness, craftsmanship, creativity, interest in locally produced goods and sustainability. Furthermore it seeks answers to questions such as, how selected designers contribute to building communities around their products? What methods they use for this purpose? How could the general characteristics of community around authorial design might look? The goal is to demonstrate, that authorial design not only brings original products, but also supports and incites human togetherness through a brooch-making workshop called Je to broží.
