This thesis focuses on the issue of funding for small and medium-sized private contemporary art galleries in the Czech Republic. It analyzes their specific needs, identifies key obstacles to sustainable operation, and maps the available forms of financial support from both public and private sources. The first part of the thesis introduces the fundamental characteristics of these institutions and their role within the cultural economy, including an overview of relevant grant programs. The second part offers recommendations for improving their situation – including concrete proposals for measures, strategies, and models of cooperation with both the public and private sectors. The thesis also includes two case studies of selected
galleries, allowing for a comparison between the Czech and international contexts.
