For the final project of this semester, I worked on a microsite for the Arabic font named Letellka Typeface. Since the type lacks a Latin version, it communicates with us through subtitles.
In my work, I incorporated a 3D model of a man with sand simulation, symbolizing the most prevalent stereotype about the Middle East — the desert. I adorned his face with a scarf featuring a traditional Arabic pattern, known as a Keffiyeh. This type of scarf is an essential part of the wardrobe in the Arab world. Additionally, I created models of Arabic letters wrapped like tablets to highlight the Arab world’s significant contributions to the field of medicine, where medications first appeared.
I treated this font as a living entity with its own character, recognizing that Arabic typefaces always demand extra effort and respect due to their unique characteristics.
