Long life: Alzheimer’s disease

This project’s goal is to create a well-arranged website that would bring the topic of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia illnesses closer to the general audience in an understandable and comprehensive way. I believe this is an important topic as statistically people there’s never been this many people ill with dementia, which is in correlation with the rising life expectancy and is only expected to grow more. The contents of my web is sourced from the already established web pages of the Czech Alzheimer’s Society (Česká alzheimerovská společnost), where one can find many valuable information on how to care for people with dementia and about the illness itself. However the web lacks good information structure and can be too confusing or disincentivizing to a layman trying to find what’s important information to them. This was the impulse for me to create my alternative design where I focused on better user experience, comprehensibility and clarity. I achieve this thanks to the information architecture built from the ground up, simpler navigation between pages and more appropriate visual identity (e.g. the font of choice – Tisa Sans, which is a humanist font, and more contained color scheme) and simple illustrations that help the target audience to not feel overwhelmed by information.
