As part of a school project, we received an assignment from Škoda. My task was to redesign a virtual assistant named Laura. This character consists of two balls – a main one that represents Laura and a smaller one that acts as her tool. My goal was to explore how Laura could behave in different situations.
For example, when looking for an answer to a question from a user, changing her dynamics when speaking or listening. In such moments, the marbles are swapped – the smaller one gets bigger and takes over the role of the main marble, symbolically passing the word to the user.
I also focused on its behaviour in model situations, such as the initial launch or the beginning of a phone call. In these cases, Laura is able to adapt by transforming herself into widgets integrated into the car screen, thus extending her functions and interactions with the user.
