Prison of History is a film documentary by filmmaker Jan Gogola Jr. and a graduate project by Matěj Hrudička. The “Main character”, the theme and reason behind the unfolding film, is the grounds of the prison in Uherské Hradiště, a place where great and small histories have passed through and closed its doors for long periods of time. The film is intended as a cinematic statement of the place from which the people in front of and behind the camera come, but it also reaches a trans-regional resonance. The film documentary wants to show that history can (indeed, must) be treated differently today.
In my design, I focused on history. Those histories that have been through this building that will not be easily forgotten. My whole visual is based on a line – a line like a censorship line, a life line, a timeline or something linear that goes on. The line is not only meant to indicate the history that has happened, but also everything that will happen in the future.
