This diploma project explores digital visual storytelling through an original animated video created using 3D graphics. It presents a visual journey through childhood and adolescence memories, the search for personal identity, and the courage to take a step into the unknown.
A major source of inspiration was the concept of liminal spaces. However, unlike their frequent portrayal in the horror genre, I wanted to present them as places associated with memories, tranquility, and nostalgia.
An important element of the project is the transformation of the character’s scale. Throughout the film, the character’s size in relation to the environment gradually changes. The more distant the memory, the larger the character appears in comparison to the surrounding space.
The visual style is based on a combination of 3D and 2D techniques, including Texture Paint, Line Art, and Grease Pencil.
