My identity, where I come from, has been confined to a region of crushed glass for years. In total, there were around 480 pressing plants in this region, and there were 150 of them in Nová Ves nad Nisou alone. All over the village, we can still find failed pressed pieces that the glassmakers dumped as failed material. As children, we looked for these pieces and guarded them like our treasures. My grandparents also own one of the drikets/pressing shops, where my great-grandfather used to press.
For my work, I used the crimping tongs with which he crimped and which are still in use today. I gave these old pliers and almost extinct technique a new life. I added silver elements to the glass buttons to create cufflinks. I also created a silver version of the cufflinks. Thus, original glass and silver cufflinks were created, which point to the history of glass pressing in our country.
