The After Five collection, created on the theme In Between States, is designed for both women and men who wear formal business attire during the day but wish to easily transform their outfit after work and give it a more distinctive and expressive character.
The collection consists of a unisex pair of formal shoes and an A5-sized handbag. The footwear is based on a classic derby design, enhanced by an unconventional arrangement of pattern pieces. The edges of the shoes are hammered down, giving them a more elegant and formal appearance. Both the sole and heel are made of vegetable-tanned leather dyed black, while the edges are finished with black edge paint. The design is completed with a glossy outsole that emphasizes the formal character of the model.
The footwear and handbag are connected not only through their colour palette but also through a system of interchangeable components. The shoes feature a removable decorative piece attached over the vamp and extending beneath the sole, allowing the appearance of the footwear to be easily transformed. The handbag is complemented by a detachable flap based on the same principle. These elements enable the wearer to transition effortlessly between a professional and a leisure-time look.
For the interchangeable components, I selected two patterns: a motif inspired by Chanel-style tweed and a cheetah print. These variations allow the overall expression of the collection to shift from elegant and sophisticated to bold and eye-catching.
