V/21

The pair of pumps is inspired by Budova 21, commissioned by Jan Antonín Baťa as the headquarters of the Baťa shoe company. From this iconic building, I primarily adopted its vertical character and colour palette.

The shoes are defined by a 3D-printed heel that references the height and distinctive silhouette of the building. The construction of the pumps is designed to enhance the elegance of the foot while emphasizing the heel height, which reaches up to 9 cm.

The light-coloured leather reflects the building’s glass façade and sense of airiness, while the black leather with bronze accents refers to the tones of its brick architecture.

I chose Building 21 mainly because it represents one of the most significant legacies of Jan Antonín Baťa. It served as the central administrative hub from which the entire production was managed. It is also remarkable that the building narrowly escaped destruction during the bombing in November 1944.
