In my BEHIND BARS collection, I depicted the feeling of experiencing what is known as an artist’s block. It is a state in which artists feel discouraged. They are under pressure from project deadlines, while at the same time wanting their work to be the best it can be. As a result, they often struggle to concentrate on their work and come up with creative ideas.
I see this state as a kind of imprisonment within our own minds. That is why I chose an visual element for the shoes and handbag that resembles a net or prison bars.
In terms of color, I wanted the collection to feel slightly negative and melancholic, while also including bright and sparkling elements. These are meant to represent the potential that still exists within our work, even during moments of creative block.
