WORK SMART NOT HARD

In this pair of shoes, I tried to portray one of the slogans followed by Tomáš Baťa: “THINKING FOR PEOPLE, HARD WORK FOR MACHINES.” I interpreted the meaning of this slogan as a reminder that human thinking and common sense are always important in any kind of work. It also suggests that we do not always have to work ourselves to exhaustion when there is another alternative.

At the the instep of the shoe, we can find a metal element created using an office stapler, symbolizing the “MACHINE.” On the shin part of the shoe, there are colorful round elastics symbolizing chaotic human “THINKING.”
