Bicycle rack at U16

This thesis deals with the design of a bicycle rack located at the university building U16. The aim of the design is to create a functional, aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly solution for parking a total of 10 bicycles.

The bike stand is designed as a roofed shelter that protects bicycles from adverse weather conditions and increases the comfort of their use. The structural solution uses a lightweight, repeating load-bearing system that supports an organically shaped roof with a green layer, thereby contributing to better integration into the surrounding environment. The design also includes the integration of a charging station for 3 electric bicycles, reflecting the growing popularity of this mode of transport.

An integral part of the design is also modular seating, which extends the function of the space beyond just bicycle parking. Variable elements allow for flexible layout and support meetings, relaxation and informal stay of students in the exterior. The seating is unified in material and shape with the overall design of the shelter, thus contributing to the visual unity and quality of the designed space. Emphasis was placed not only on technical and operational aspects, but also on visual identity and relationship to the place, so that the designed element naturally complements the character of the surroundings.
