This thesis develops a proposal for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Tomáš Bat’a. The significant anniversary is an opportunity for the city of Zlín and Zlín institutions, including the Tomáš Bat’a Memorial. This timeless building is closely connected with the legacy of Tomáš Bat’a, and therefore it is proposed to develop a concept of the anniversary in the Memorial. The theoretical part will be a space for documents dealing with the history of the building and site-specific art installations, which should be reflected in the practical part. The aim will be to develop the design with sensitivity to the history and architect of the building in such a way that people who are not interested in architecture can visit the Memorial and get the opportunity to interact with the building, get to know it
in a new context and to take away an experience that they will tell others about.
Concept
I would like to offer people the opportunity to be part of the celebrations for such a significant anniversary. Anyone from the public will have a chance to wish the entrepreneur a happy birthday, to say thank you.
Form
Visitors to the Memorial write their wishes on a tablet located in the Memorial. The message is sent to a projection device and then projected onto the glass shell of the building, so that people inside can see their messages in the context of the Tomáš Bat’a Memorial.
The aim of the work
The aim of this work is to propose a possible solution for the anniversary celebration for the Tomáš Bat’a Memorial in such a way that people can interact with the building.
People who are not interested in architecture or history can visit the Memorial – in this way they will have an experience and can spread awareness of the Tomáš Bat’a Memorial, whose personality remains the centre of Zlín’s events even 150 years after his birth.
