In Between Memory and Landscape: Artistic Exploration of Ritual in the Landscape

The Diploma’s Thesis concerns the topic of landscape memory and ritual in artistic practice. The subject of the research is a personal ritual in the form of a pilgrimage on the border of two villages in the Pobeskydi region. The aim of the Thesis is to create land art that is based on the identity of the ritual and place. The research method used is artistic research guided by personal observation and journals with collaborating artists. The resulting land art intervention brings a new place of memory in the landscape and reflects one’s own pilgrimage. It brings a place for pause, introspection and encourages cultivation of the surroundings.
