In this project, I focus on a detailed analysis of the film Memoirs of a Geisha – its plot, characters, and historical context. Beyond the story, I explore the culture of geishas, their traditions, rules, symbolism of clothing, and techniques.
The website is divided into three sections:
About the Film – analysis of the plot and characters
The Story – cultural and historical aspects of geishas
Glossary – explanations of terms from the film (obi, maiko, danna, and more)
The entire project is designed in black, white, and red, colors that carry strong symbolism in Japan, especially in the city of Kyoto, where the story takes place. The website is also enhanced with animations, adding dynamism and a deeper visual experience.
