A table in bloom | Roots

A set of three brass food picks was created in response to the faculty assignment “Roots”, which draws on Czech traditions and customs connected with dining.

Each object represents one plant linked to important holidays and festive meals throughout the year. The collection is inspired by plants that appear in Czech folk tradition as symbols of seasonal change, abundance, and renewal. The selected motifs refer to Christmas, Easter, and harvest celebrations.

The Barborka motif works with the silhouette of a delicate branch, leaves, and flowers. The food pick refers to the winter season and the festive atmosphere of the Christmas table. The Willow motif imitates the form of a branch with newly sprouting buds and is connected with Easter. The Ear of Grain refers to harvest celebrations, the gathering of crops, and the end of summer.
