Car Baby Nanny Monitor

“How to make it easier for parents-drivers to travel with children and take care of them?” – I asked myself this question at the beginning of the semester, when we were given the task of coming up with any new concept in cooperation with Škoda Auto company. The topic “car and family” interested me and I delved deeper into the questions that families might want to solve during their car journeys.

I focused on the problem of care and control of a small child in situations where a parent is behind the steering wheel. I have found that the current solutions (such as a child rearview mirror, special “baby car” monitoring devices) are not sufficient. That’s why I came up with the idea of a special “car baby nanny monitor”. This idea is based on the already known solution of baby monitors, where a camera is aimed at the child and the parent carries a receiver with two-way audio, thanks to which they can take care of the child even from a distance. The baby monitor would be specially designed so that its wiring works inside the car and the image of a child is transferred to the display on the front dashboard. In addition to commonly known functions, such a baby monitor would also offer for example a breath and heart rate monitor (important even for small babies), or functions specific to driving in a car. These are checking the seat belts on child car seats, amplifying/reducing the audio using the microphones and speakers in the car, or warning if you leave the child alone in the car.

This project is currently in the rough concept stage, which will likely be further developed next semester.
