iRozhlas news app concept

Based upon the collaboration with the state radio station Český rozhlas, this project shows na idea of bringing news to younger people, so that they can rely on valid information and don’t need to tune on traditional waves, read newspaper, or watch television.

How to deliver news and make it a daily routine? I work with the alarm clock based app, that pre-downloads short audio clips and merges them together based on the user’s preferences. News are then played in the morning at the exact time to wake up the user and get his attention while lying in the bed or doing morning routines. Each piece of news is generated by an artificial voice, so no human moderator needs to pre-record them. News can include GPS based information about weather forecast, or traffic jams. Not only the user gets reports about past events, but also can be informed about upcoming events in that day – summits, elections, trials, or cultural events, that are about to happen as planned.

The app enables the user to read individual articles and to listen to their audio versions. Closely watched news can be marked with the bell symbol, so that the user never misses any future progress of those news – they appear in the morning alarm clock package and play among other interesting news.

The prototype was made in Figma – includes an alarm clock interface and a separate app interface.

Prototype – alarm clock

Prototype – app itself

There is also a presentational video, that summarizes and demonstrates intended operation of the app. As the artificial voice reads news, their thumbnails move in and out, so that the user can quickly use the bell icon, or proceed to the full article and further details.
