LifeAssist – assistance solution concept

LifeAssist is a concept to protect lives of elderly and vulnerable people, who live on their own, outside medical facilities. The project presents an assistance system, based on communication between the client and the assistance centre. Each client wears a smart bracelet – a device, that can make a two way voice call with the operator, who then has several means to provide help.

The situation may be emergency, but does not have to be – the system can be used also with casual everyday needs, like setting up a getting driven to a doctors appointment, having delivered food or grocery, or perhaps getting a broken lightbulb fixed. All these things can be accomplished by a professional crew (in a patrol car), or by family members registered within the system.

Why LifeAssist? In the old days, people used to live together in one neighborhood, so it was easy for younger members to take care of their older parents. But today’s society is different. People, especially elderly, often live alone, getting to see their relatives only from time to time.

The project was made within the LongLife assignment, it is based on theoretical thoughts, and presents how today’s technologies can be used to benefit people.
