Katya: Kitchen Bowl & Colander

The Katya project focuses on fluid motion and time efficiency during food preparation. Traditional straining requires handling multiple vessels, which interrupts the workflow. It is a multifunctional kitchen tool combining a bowl and colander into a single unit. Katya’s design integrates two separate functions into a compact product, minimizing both visual clutter and storage requirements.

The Principle of Rotation & Dual-Layer Construction: The core feature is a dual-layer mechanism based on a simple sliding of two layers (shells). A simple rotation of the upper part covers or reveals the perforations, instantly transforming the colander into a solid bowl. This intuitive motion allows for fast and efficient straining of food without the need for additional equipment. It enables the user to wash, drain, and subsequently serve or store food within the exact same vessel.
